Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

We find out a fair amount about the initial settlement of Liberia and how difficult it was and how it began. What they do not talk about much is that they still do not have basic sanitation - clean water, sewers and toilets - for the vast majority of the millions who live there. That is especially a big deal with the ebola crisis where sanitation is so important. We need another book as to why the country is still so behind even third world standards and when it will begin to happen. It is a country rich in potential resources.Product details

informative
I love my country Liberia and so it was very good to read the history behind it. This book opened my eyes to better understand Liberia's state today.
great, would order again
Was this originally written as a masters thesis or PHD dissertation? It is highly informative and easy to read.
This was a very informative book. Those seeking information about America's role in the colonization of West Africa should definitely obtain this book.
I was curious about Liberian history & picked this book at random. The historical interest of this book is in it's perspective, which whole-heartedly supports emigration to Liberia. Not at all what I was looking for when I selected it (was interested in facts about Liberia & it's history), but certainly gave me an unexpected historical perspective to consider.
I saw this essay and downloaded it for my . It isn't terribly long and has history and related discussion of Liberia, written about 100 years ago. The tone is rather condescending, which is common for the time. Today, it might be considered to be insensitive from its tone, although I don't believe it was intended that way. Regardless, it is an interesting and valuable read for those with interest. Certainly a different filter on the history and without the influence of the last century.
